Meet NWDT dancer Charlotte Magsarili. In addition to rehearsing with NWDT and completing her Royal Academy of Dance Advanced II examination at June Taylor’s School of Dance, Charlotte graduated high school early this past December and has since then enrolled in the Royal Academy of Dance’s Benesh Movement Notation Certification course in the UK. Charlotte has also begun teaching at June Taylor’s School of Dance. Charlotte brings joy and positive energy to each role she performs both on and off stage, and it has been a great pleasure to see her grow and mature as a young artist these past few years. We wish her all the best in her future endeavors, and look forward to seeing her and her fellow dancers perform in Peter and the Wolf and Other Works on April 16 and 17, 2016.
1) When did you join NWDT?
Four years ago in 2012. I wasn’t originally going to audition, but I decided to join at the last minute.
2) What is your favorite company memory?
Each year having the snowball fight during intermission of the last Nutcracker performance. The snow would get everywhere!
3) What do you love most about performing?
The feeling of freedom onstage. Once the music begins there is nothing that can keep you from dancing in that moment–it’s quite exhilarating!

4) What was your favorite role to dance and why?
Dew Drop. From the very beginning it was a challenge and one of the hardest things I have ever done, but that made the accomplishment so much sweeter.
5) What challenges have you learned to overcome as a dancer?
In the beginning, picking up choreography was so hard, but now it has become like second nature to me!
6) What are your plans for the future?
I hope to get my certification to be a Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) teacher and continue my studies on Benesh Movement Notation, which is essentially sheet music for dance choreography.
